Through the fully funded Republic of Mauritius Scholarship for Africans, the Government of Mauritius invites applicants annually to study Undergraduate, Masters and PhD programs at Mauritius Universities. The Scholarship aims to cover the tuition fees and living expenses of the students. Also, this scholarship covers airfare via an economical route. Through this student will be able to travel at the beginning of the course and back to the country once the student completes it.

Application Procedure
African students can apply for this scholarship by filling out the application form. Section – 5 of the application form is meant for the nominating agency in the country of citizenship of the applicant, which has to be completed and promoted by it.
After shortlisting and endorsement applications for a maximum of 15 eligible candidates (five in each category of Undergraduate, Master, and MPhil/PhD), the nominating Agency, which is typically a division of the Ministry of Education in the applicant’s country, will submit the duly filled-out application forms as per the table below:

Qualification Entry Requirements
The scholarship will be either awarded for the maximum duration of the course or the minimum duration of the course comparing whichever is lesser. To be able to be eligible for this scholarship students need to have completed the following qualifications.
- Undergraduate Diploma – 3 years
- Undergraduate Degree – 4 years
- Master’s – 2 years
- M.Phill / PhD – 4 years + 6 months for the transfer from MPhil to PhD
- PhD – 3 years
Selection Process
According to the following criteria, the Government of Mauritius offers scholarships to deserving students who are nationals of resident African Union or African Commonwealth nations:
1) In order to apply for undergraduate programmes, candidates must be older than 18 and younger than 26 by May 26, 2023.
2) Going by the deadline of May 26, 2023, applicants for master’s programmes and PhD programmes should not have turned 35 or 40, respectively.
3) For the academic year beginning in 2023 students must have applied for a full-time on-campus programme such as a degree, PhD, Master’s or Diploma at a public higher education institution in Mauritius (specified in Section 8 of the applicable Guidelines for Applicants).
