Red-White-Red Card for Graduates

An international student (Third County) can stay in Austria after studying. For this they can apply for an Austria post study work visa or a residence permit. During this period, if employment is obtained from a specified employer (work contract) that matches the qualification level of the student then a Red-White-Red Card can be applied. The Red-White-Red Card for Graduates does require the student to undertake a labor market test. However, the student must meet the essential requirements for the red-white card for graduates. They are: 

  • The applicant must be paid the local customary gross minimum wage. Moreover, the minimum salary must be the same as the comparable Austrian graduates (junior employees) might receive. 
  • The students must also fulfill the general requirements under the Austria settlement and residence law. That is, they must obtain health coverage.

General Requirements for Austria Residence Permits

The following are the eligibility criteria for the Austria post study work visa or the residence permit. Graduates must meet these requirements to obtain the same.

  • Must have adequate means of subsistence; That is, the applicant must have a fixed and regular personal income to meet the cost of living in Austria. The applicant must not be reliant on receiving aid from the local government.  That is, singles must have a minimum income of € 1,217.46 and couples must have an income of € 1,921.96. For each additional child, the applicant must have an income of  € 187,93
  • Additionally, health insurance must be obtained. If the applicant has been insured in the public social insurance system, there is no need to obtain health insurance 
  • Accommodation: The applicant must also prove proof of a legal title to locally customary accommodation. For example, a lease contract. The accommodation must be adequate for the family size.

Is there a Point System for Austrian Graduates? 

No. There is no Point System for Austrian Graduates. The Red-White-Red Card permits the student to stay in Austria for a temporary period. The duration is equal to the time specified by the Austrian employer. The  Red-White-Red Card can be applied by students who have graduated from an Austrian University, an accredited private University, or a university of applied sciences. To apply for a Red-White-Red Card graduates must prove that they have completed a bachelor’s prorgam, a diploma program (at least 2nd stage of studies), a master’s prorgam, or a doctoral degree. 

Red-White-Red Card Plus for Graduates

The Red White Red Card Plus is available to students who have graduated from an Austrian educational institution. The card provided the student with unlimited labor access. To apply, the person must have been employed according to the eligibility criteria for a minimum of 12 months during the preceding 24 months  

Documentation Necessary for a Red-White-Red Card

The following documents are essential for a Red-White-Red Card. Those who want to apply for a  Red-White-Red Card must submit these documents.

  • The applicant must have a passport 
  • Must provide photographs not older than  half a year (size: 45×35 mm)
  • Additionally, the student must also provide proof of health insurance. The health insurance must cover all the risks 
  • Present proof of course completion/corresponding training 
  • Any other additional documentation (if requested)

How Long Can You Stay back in Austria after Masters?

12 Months. Generally, Students who have graduated from, Australian Higher educational institutions can apply for a temporary residence permit. The Austria Post study work visa doesn’t exist. Therefore, the temporary residence permit acts as a post study permit for students. With a residence permit, a student can stay in Australia for 12 months. 

Can I Get PR after Study in Austria?

Austria PR cannot be immediately obtained after completing studies in the county. To become a permanent resident, a person must meet the following eligibility criteria.
