House Number 11, 7th Street Station 133, Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh – 100098 18 July, 2008 Dear Maa, I hope you are doing well at home. You must have a busy schedule as always and be helping Aunt with her wedding preparations. I miss being there to lend a hand. In our last letter, I could sense your concern about how I spend my day on the school campus, so this time I decided to give you a glimpse into what my typical day is like here. As you know, most of my mornings start early with yoga and meditation. Fresh air and the rising sun energise me for the day ahead. After my yoga practice, I head back to my room to shower and make preparations for school. After thanking God for our new day, our academic classes begin. My first class on Mondays and Wednesdays is economics at 9 a.m. Subject teacher Mrs. David teaches the chapter well, but yet she is very fast in giving notes. Here, I have to be alert while taking good notes. After that, I attended my applied physics lab, where our classmates conducted experiments as a team. I enjoy the hands-on application concepts that we learn in our classroom. Around lunchtime, I and my friends go to the mess hall for some rajma-chawal and lighthearted conversation. As many of my friends are from different parts of the country, I am learning so much about the different cultures and foods. After recess, I have my four classes, which include Mathematics, Chemistry, Science, and English. In between, I also visit the library and read my favourite books. During the week, my favourite day is Wednesday evening, when I enjoy Hindustani classical vocal lessons. I wish you could join me here. Later in the evening, I join some debate classes or play volleyball with my classmates. I come back by 6 pm, I am back and will start revising what I have learned in class. Around 10 p.m., I pack my bag for the next day and go to sleep. Let me know if you would like me to describe my experiences in more detail. I hope this letter has solved all your concerns. I look forward to hearing from you soon, Maa. With lots of love, Neha |

Sky Rock Ranch Apt. Village East, Bangalore, Karnataka 11 April 2001 Dear Mummy, As you know, I have settled into my new school and am ready for another academic journey. Everything is completely new for me; therefore, my days are going a bit busy for me. Still, I am enjoying my subjects and my new school life. I usually start my morning early to get to the gym before my school assembly. The gym is in the backyard of the campus and is not too crowded. By 7:00 am, I return to my room after completing my workout. I have been doing some strength training to stay active and healthy. After my workout, I head back to take a shower and get ready for my class. My roommate Rahul usually wakes up when I get back. We take turns using our small washroom to get dressed for school, head to the mess for our breakfast, and gobble down a delicious breakfast. After my breakfast, we went back to our rooms, picked up our school bags, and rushed to our classrooms. My first class starts at 9:30 p.m. Right now, I am focusing more on Microeconomics, as the subject is new to me. Around 3:30, I return from my school classes, and around 5:00 pm, I sit back for my studies. Around 10:00 p.m., I complete my schedule for the day and reward myself with a fiction story. Have you noticed that I haven´t told you about my dinner time? We are provided with tiffin in our rooms only, so I enjoy my dinner with my favourite fiction stories. I am usually in bed around 11:30 p.m. to get enough rest. The days go by quickly with my classes, assignments, and campus life. I hope this gives you a better sense of what my daily routine looks like now. Let me know if you want me to describe any part of the schedule more in detail. I would love to hear more about what is happening back at home. Your Son, Deepak |
