IGNOU BA Economics

IGNOU BA Economics is an undergraduate program offered to students who possess all the required eligibility criteria. This 3-year program is divided into 6 semesters, where a wide range of subjects related to economics are taught, such as Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Econometrics, Environmental Economics, etc. 

BA Economics consists of a total of 148 credits. The distribution of all these credits is listed below.

• Cour Courses; 14 courses of 6 credits each (84 credits)
• Discipline Specific Electives (DSEs): 4 courses of 6 credits each (24 credits).
• Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses (AECCs): 2 courses of 4 credits (8 credits).
• Skill Enhancement Courses (SECs): 2 courses of 4 credits (8 credits).
• Generic Electives (GEs): 4 courses of 6 credits each ( 24 credits)

Since 2019, IGNOU has changed its admission procedure for UG and PG courses, and now offers admission based on the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), which was introduced by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) has offered more flexibility for students to apply for admission throughout their academic program. Under the CBCS, there are two divisions in UG programmes; BA General and BA Hons. BA Economics falls under the BA Hons. category, where admissions were started in 2020.

BA Economics Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for admission to BA Economics at IGNOU, candidates must ensure that they fulfil all the eligibility criteria, which include education qualification. All the candidates who have completed their 10+2 from a recognised institution are eligible to apply for IGNOU BA Economics admission. IGNOU doesn’t have any age limit criteria for admission to BA Economics. 

BA Economics Fee Structure

To successfully secure admission to BA Economics at IGNOU, candidates must pay the course fee online using a credit card or debit card. BA Economics fees at IGNOU is INR 9,600, which is divided into 3 parts; INR 3200 per year. While applying for admission, applicants need to pay INR 3200 and a Registration fee of INR 200. The admission process for IGNOU starts by filling out the registration and application form at the official website. Candidates must know that to apply for admission at IGNOU, only online applications are accepted by the university. Here are all the steps that will guide you to successfully apply for admission at IGNOU.

• Go to the official website of the Indira Gandhi National Open University.
• Under the ‘Register Online’ section, look for the ‘Apply for Admission’ option and click on it.
• Candidates will have to first register where a username and password will be provided on their email. 
• Once these credentials are generated, candidates can use them to log in to the website and complete their application form.
• While filling out the IGNOU application form, candidates need to enter their name, contact details, education qualification, and upload the necessary documents and pay the registration fee.
• Once all the details have been entered, documents uploaded and the registration fee is paid, candidates will receive a confirmation message in their mail.
