Many students are below the poverty line, and as a result, they are experiencing financial difficulties and are unable to pay for their educational expenses. A scholarship program called Scholarship for BPL students 2023-24 is being implemented to financially help such deserving and needy pupils. Candidates enrolled in class 11th, 12th, or a 3-year Graduation or BDS course are eligible for this Scholarship for BPL Students. Students suffer greatly to complete their studies since school and college tuition are unaffordable for families living below the poverty line. About BPL Scholarship 2023

The BPL Scholarship Scheme for College Students, Chhattisgarh 2023 is a program offered by the Department of Higher Education, Chhattisgarh to students enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Chhattisgarh government colleges. The goal of this initiative is to provide financial assistance to deserving students from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families. This aid is meant to help individuals manage a portion of their daily expenses while pursuing a higher degree. Meritorious students will be awarded a scholarship of up to Rs. 500 per month for ten months.

Important Dates

• This scholarship will be starting on 1 November 2022
• The last date to submit the application form is 31 January 2023.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, a candidate must: 

• Be enrolled in any Chhattisgarh government college under the Higher Education Department; 
• Have a guardian with a BPL card; 
• And have completed the yearly exams on the first attempt.
• Maintain regular attendance 

Note: Applicants should not be receiving any other scholarship at the same time.

Documents Required

These are the documents that are required to be submitted while applying for the BPL Scholarship Scheme:

• Academic Marksheets/certificates
• Bank passbook 
• Aadhaar card 
• BPL card

Benefits of the BPL Scholarship

The selected students will receive benefits as follows:

• Graduate level – ₹300 per month
• Postgraduate level – ₹500 per month

It should be noted that the scholarship is valid for consecutive academic years. The scholarship does not cover tuition, entry fees, caution money, or any other out-of-pocket expenses.

How to Apply?

Eligible candidates should complete the following steps to apply for the scholarship:

• Step 1: Click the ‘Apply Now’ button below. 
• Step 2: Click the ‘Register’ button and enter the essential registration information. (Note: If you are already registered, log in using your Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID).
• Step 3: Go to the ‘Applicant Corner’ and select the ‘New Registration’ link.
• Step 4: Carefully read the details, check the box, then click the ‘Continue’ button.
• Step 5: Choose the appropriate Aadhaar option, enter your cellphone number, captcha code, and OTP, and then submit.  
• Step 6: Fill out the relevant information and click ‘Save & Register’ to finish the registration process. 
• Step 7: Now, proceed to the ‘Fresh Application’ link and log in with your application ID and password. (Note: Second and third-year students should apply under the ‘Renewal’ category if they earned a BPL scholarship in their first year.)
• Step 8: Fill out the relevant information, upload the required papers, and submit the application.

Note: All applicants are recommended to fill out the form completely; once completed, no modifications can be made. Applicants are also urged to submit only one application because repeated submissions will result in the form being cancelled.

Selection Process

For the coveted scholarship, the applicant must go through the following selection process:

• The online applications would be verified at two levels:
  • By the Institute where the student is enrolled
  • By the State Government.
• The candidate must submit the necessary documentation to the Institute.
• An application that is not verified by either the institute or the relevant State Government Office, or both, will be considered invalid.
• The scholarship is paid immediately into the beneficiary’s bank account via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Students must seed their Aadhar with a bank account for scholarships to be disbursed smoothly. 

Terms and Conditions

• All needed documentation must be submitted to their institute for verification. Applications that have not been confirmed by the institute or the relevant State Government Office, or both, will be deemed “invalid.”
• The scholarship amount will be awarded for a maximum of ten “qualifying” months from July to April for new candidates. A month is considered “qualified” if the student enrolled on or before the 21st of that month.
