Every year, Panjab University conducts the entrance exam for undergraduates in law. A total of 240 seats are offered every year for BA LLB programs. The entrance exam for PU BA LLB is conducted in offline mode by Panjab University. Students who will qualify for the written exam will be called for a counselling session, which will be the final step in the selection process. 

Admission to Panjab University will depend on candidates’ 12th standard performance and their marks in the written exam. Both of these scores will be given 50-50 weightage of the total score.  The exam’s score is calculated on the basis of answers marked by the candidate in the answer sheet. Percentile is the specific value which is calculated under specific values.

PU BA LLB Score vs Percentile

The score for the entrance exam will be calculated on the basis of answers marked by candidates in their response sheets.The percentile for the exam will depend on the final rank of the candidate out of the total candidates.
For each correct answer marked by the candidate, a +1 mark will be awarded to the candidate.If any candidate has secured the 100th rank out of a total of 2000 candidates, 99 candidates are ahead of this 100th candidate.
For every wrong answer, marked, a 0.25 mark will be deducted from the candidate’s total score.Candidate securing 100th rank out of 2000 means 1900 candidates are behind the 100th.

Different categories have different passing scores. This is the table with the cutoff scores of the exam. If a student scores the minimum marks in his/ her category then they have a high chance of getting selected.

A percentile is valued at a particular rank. If any candidate has a percentile of 70, that means, of all the total candidates, 70 candidates are behind this person. And this also means that 30 candidates are ahead of this person. The same procedure is followed for the entrance exam. There are 120 seats at the Chandigarh campus (BA and BCom programmes), and 60 each at all the regional campus ( Ludhiana, Horshiarpur, and Muktsar).

PU BA LLB Counselling

The counselling for PU BA LLB  is conducted by Panjab University in offline mode. The merit list will be the deciding factor for the counselling procedure, which will be shortlisted by Panjab University. Candidates who will become eligible for counselling will have to complete online registration, submit their documents and verify them.

Seats will be allotted based on the merit rank scored by the candidate. Candidates who will clear the counselling stage will have to pay the admission fee and will have to report at the allotted campuses and complete other stages in the admission procedure.
