What is MAT Cutoff?
MAT cutoff is the minimum number of marks required by each institution in the Management Aptitude Test to qualify the students for their Group Discussions and Personal Interviews. Some of the institutes consider the overall MAT Scores for admission whereas others may consider MAT Composite Scores or MAT Sectional Scores.
MAT Sectional Scores: MAT Sectional Scores are the scores given in each section of the candidates’ scorecard. These marks are allotted section-wise and are different for each section.
MAT Composite Score: The MAT Composite Score includes the cumulative marks attained by the students in the first four sections of the test namely Language Comprehension, Data Analysis & Sufficiency, Mathematical Skills and Intelligence & Critical Reasoning.
MAT Percentile Score: The percentile will represent the decreasing order of percentages received by the students based on the total number of students and their increasing order of marks.

The results of MAT 2023 are expected to release in the third week of March 2023. The candidates expecting to make it to the cutoff can start preparing for the Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The various steps to download the cutoff are given below:

How is the MAT Cutoff Calculated?
The MAT Cutoff is calculated by the participating institutes separately. The institutes consider various factors for the calculation of MAT Cutoff. An overview of candidates’ personal profiles is also considered for the cutoff. Considering all these aspects a set of Examination Authorities of each institute releases a cutoff score or percentile.
Factors Determining MAT Cutoff 2023
There are various factors to consider while deciding the cutoff. Some of these factors are stated as follows:
- The number of candidates appearing for the test. More test takers are directly linked to higher cutoffs.
- Level of difficulty of the question paper. If the question paper was tough the cutoff is expected to be lower.
- The number of seats available for a particular institution. More the seats available, the lower the cutoff.
- The cutoff is also influenced by the previous year’s MAT cutoffs as the trend goes.
What after MAT Cut off 2023?
Colleges accepting MAT Score follow its individual selection procedure. While some admit students directly upon their MAT Results, some hold further selection rounds. These rounds help to filter out the best students. Some colleges may conduct group discussion rounds along with a personal interview, while some may also include written ability tests.
