About Temples of Rajasthan

Rajasthan is famous for its beautiful architectural forts and royal temples. The temples in this state are examples of ancient Indian history and culture and show the artistic talent of their skilled sculptors. The temple structures and artwork of these temples can be seen in relation to religious aspects. Rajasthan is home to a large number of temples. A few of the famous temples are listed below: 

Birla Mandir, Jaipur

One of the most popular temples in Rajasthan is Birla Mandir, which is located in Jaipur. Some important details about the temple are given  below:

• It is also referred as the Lakshmi-Narayan temple and is easily visible against the south Jaipur skyline. 
• Constructed in 1998 by the famous Birla family, it is devoted to Lord Vishnu and goddess Laxmi, who is considered to bring wealth and luck in Hinduism. 
• To honour India’s secular nature, the Birla Mandir features three domes, symbolising the three major faiths practiced there. 
• The Birla temple is surrounded by beautiful, environmen friendly grounds.

Brahma Temple, Pushkar

The Jagatpita Brahma temple is situated near the holy Pushkar Lake in Pushkar. Some of the features of the temple have been mentioned below:

• This temple honours Lord Brahma, known as the god of creation in Hinduism, and is thought to be around 2000 years old. 
• The temple is constructed using slabs of stone and marble.
• Lord Brahma’s and his wife Hayatri’s statue is kept in the temple’s inner sanctorum.
• Maharaja Jagat Raj of Ratlam is known for creating the current structure. 
• In the sacred Pushkar Lake, pilgrims and the sages first take a dip before praying in the temple.

Salasar Balaji Temple, Churu

Salasar Balaji Temple, or Salasar Dam, is located in Salasar in the Churu district of Rajasthan. It is believed that no tour of Rajasthan is complete without visiting this temple. 

• The temple is devoted to Lord Hanuman, and a large number of people visit this temple throughout the year, especially during Chaita Purnima and Ashvin Purnima.
• As the temple is viewed as both a shakti sthal (a pilgrimage destination blessed with ultimate power) and swayambhu (self-created), the devotees feel an unusual connection with it. 
• With a fascinating mythological background, the temple’s primary deity is a child’s idol of Lord Hanuman. 

Rani Sati Temple, Jhunjhunu

The largest Hindu temple in India is dedicated to Rani Sati, a 13th-century woman who killed herself after her husband’s death. It is located in the Jhunjhunu district. 

• Another name given to Rani Sati is Narayani Devi.
• This temple doesn’t consist of any type of idol or deity. It just holds a big image of Rani Sati.
• There’s a massive existence that can be felt in the temple, symbolising strength, courage, and power. 
• The temple is built with marble, and there are a lot of paintings on the temple walls.
• Hanuman Temple, Lord Shiva Temple, Lord Ganesh Temple, Sita Temple, and other temples are located inside the compound. 
• At the temple, an aarti is done twice a day: once in the morning and once in the evening.

Karni Mata Temple, Bikaner

The Temple of Rats is another name for the Karni Mata Temple in Deshnoke, near Bikaner. Below mentioned points reflect why this temple is so famous:

• The temple is well-known for its 20,000 huge populations of black rats, known as kabbas, that reside and eat within the temple.
• The temple depicts  Mata Karni, who is thought to be an avatar of Goddess Durga.
• Maharaja Ganga Singh of Bikaner constructed it in the lavish Mughal style during the 20th century. 
• Aside from the rats, the nearly 75-cm-tall sculpture of Mata Karni is a big attraction for tourists. 
• The food or prasad, offered by the devotees is eaten by the rats.

Mehandipur Balaji Temple, Mehandipur

The most well-known temple in Rajasthan is the Mehandipur Balaji Temple in Mehandipur. This temple holds a lot of recognition in Hinduism and must be visited on any pilgrimage tour.

• The famous temple is devoted to the Lord Hanuman.
• The Mehandipur Balaji Temple is renowned for its ability to cast out evil spirits. 
• Within the temple, saints would perform ritualistic healing procedures.
• Inside the temple are three idols that are believed to be more than a thousand years old: Lord Hanuman, Pret Raj, and Bhairav.

Ranakpur Jain Temple, Ranakpur

The Ranakpur Jain Temple is a lovely site, situated approximately 90 kilometres away from Udaipur. This temple is famous for it’s architectural style.

• Its architecture is a brilliant combination of beauty, covering around 48,000 square feet. This alone tells you how big the temple must be. 
• The temple complex as a whole is supported by 1,444 carved pillars and 24 pillared halls. It has 80 domes on top that are linked up by 400 columns.
• A major feature inside the temple is a six-foot-tall figure of Lord Adinath, the first Tirthankara in Jain history. The figure rests elegantly under the main temple complex’s biggest tower. 
• Surya Temple, Chaumukha Temple, Parshvanath Temple, and Amba Mata Temple are some of the other temples that surround this temple.

Parshuram Mahadev Temple, Pali

When visiting Rajasthan, the Parshuram Mahadev Temple in Pali is a must-see location.  Because of a unique mythological story connected to it, this temple holds a particular place in the hearts of devotees. 

• Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple is situated on the boundary between the districts of Rajsamand and Pali.
• Here, the entire cave is thought to have been carved by Lord Parshuram, the sixth avatar of Lord Vishnu, with his axe. 
• This temple, which is located at a height of over 3,995 feet, is also known as the Amarnath Cave temple. 
• When you enter the temple, you will find idols of Lord Shiva and Lord Ganesh.
• The nine kunds, which devotees believe never dry out, are another unique aspect of the temple. 
• To reach the cave, one needs to go through the 500 stairs.
