Decision Making in XAT: The Xavier Aptitude Test is also popularly known as XAT. The exam is conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur body every year to grant admission to students wanting to study MBA/PGDM programmes. What is the Decision-Making Section in XAT?

Over the years, the XAT exam has seen an increase in the number of questions that come in the Decision-Making section of the exam. This makes the section an important factor in clearing percentile cut-offs. However, many students still don’t know or have the proper knowledge of how this section can be cleared. One must note that a lack of knowledge and time can lead to low scores on the exam. 

Candidates before appearing for the exam, must know that this section asks students to select the correct decision. So, basically in this section, the candidates will be given a situation from which they will have to select the correct situation by selecting the right answer. They must evaluate all the situations as well as factors and based on that make the appropriate decision.

XAT 2024: Decision-Making Exam Pattern

The decision-making section is considered to be one of the most difficult in the XAT exam. This section requires one to do logical reasoning. Here the candidates are presented with a scenario and they are supposed to make a decision based on the options they are given. Here is the exam pattern of the XAT. By going through this, the students will get a fair idea about the overall exam. 

  • XAT decision-making section has a negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer.
  • 1 mark will be rewarded for each correct answer.
  • The difficulty level of this section is considered to be on the moderately difficult side. 
  • Candidates can expect questions about the current political scenarios.

Here are some tips and tricks which will help you clear the decision-making section in the XAT exam. 

  • Go through the previous year’s question papers of at least 10 years and make sure you practice every question.
  • Remember that many times there are questions which have no correct answer but there is always an answer which can be close to it.
  • All decision-based questions are situation-based. Therefore, make sure you practice all types of questions.
