History, Affiliations and Rankings
Located in the heart of Dallas-Fort Worth, The University of Texas (UTA) at Arlington is a Carnegie Research 1 institution with more than 100 years of academic excellence and tradition. It was founded in 1895 and is the largest university in North Texas and the second-largest in The University of Texas System.
UTA was co-founded by Arlington civic leader Edward Emmett Rankin, Lee M. Hammond and William M. Trimble. Their vision was to improve the quality of education in the rural town. Starting as a private institution of roughly 75 students, UTA now has more than 180 bachelor’s, master's, and doctoral degree programs, and more than 60,000 students on campus each year.
With 180 undergraduate and postgraduate programs, UTA ranks at 1001 in World University Ranking by QS, 2022, and 601 in THE (Times Higher Education), 2022.
Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses
The campus of UTA extends across an area of 420 acres. It has the biggest branch of a public library with thousands of journals, books, magazines, research papers and textbooks. The campus is home to College Hall, Preston Hall, Ransom Hall, Nedderman Hall, Arlington Hall, CAPPA building, Texas Hall, the Common Room, the Engineering Research Building and the College of Business. The campus also has cafeterias and sports rooms.
UTA offers various subjects that are categorized as schools, the College of Engineering, College of Business, College of Liberal Arts, College of Architecture, Planning & Public Affairs, College of Education, College of Science, College of Nursing and Health, Honors College and School of Social Work.

Students come from more than 100 countries making it one of the most diverse campus populations in the nation. The presence of international students on campus means a greater diversity of options, perspectives and knowledge to add to the diversity of thought on campus. As the economy becomes more global in scope, interaction with students from all different countries becomes an important part of higher education. UTA has great popularity with international students. It is home to 9.5%, approximately 4,559 international students from 48 countries. The largest on-campus communities are from India, China, and Nepal. The Number of International Students increases with each intake.
