Q: Does the University of New South Wales offer early conditional offer letters?

Yes but it's only for domestic students.

Q: Can I receive credits for my previous degree?

You can apply to have previous study from another institution or another UNSW degree program recognised, and the credit transferred to your current degree program at UNSW.

Q: How long does it take to process my application?

Applications via the Apply Online portal may take up to 5 business days to process, provided all documentation is received. If additional documentation is required, there will be delays in receiving an outcome.

Q: Can I defer my studies if I start online and find it difficult?

If you have completed one or more semesters/terms, and you need to take a break from your studies, you can apply for program leave. Program leave is available for up to one year, more in very exceptional circumstances.

Q: Is UNSW hard to get into?

In general, UNSW's undergrad programme is one of the most demanding in the country (compared to other universities in the US, UK and Canada, but easier than Singapore or India). To get good marks, you must put in a lot of effort.

About the University

History, Affiliations and Rankings

The University of New South Wales was previously Sydney Mechanics' School of Arts founded in 1833 and the Sydney Technical College founded in 1878. Located in Kensington, Australia, the aim of founding the university was born from the crisis demands of World War II, during which the country's focus was drawn to the important role that science and technology played in reshaping an agricultural society into a modern and industrial one. The university was initially named the New South Wales University of Technology and got its University status through the enactment of the New South Wales University of Technology Act (NSW) in 1949. In 1958, the institute was modified to the University of New South Wales reflecting a change from a technology-based institution to a generalist university. The Business School of the University holds accreditation from the US-based AACSB International and its Bachelor in Commerce (International) has been awarded EQUIS accreditation. The University of New South Wales ranks #43 in the QS World University Rankings 2022 and #70 in THE World University Rankings 2022. The University of New South Wales also ranks #41 globally in the US News Best Global Universities Rankings 2022.
