Established in 1527, the University of Marburg is the oldest protestant public university in Germany. The university’s campus across the medieval city of Marburg, in the state of Hessen, houses several state-of-the-art buildings of administration, laboratories, classrooms, lecture halls, sports centers, language centers, residences, libraries, research centers and many more. The university offers undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs in both English and German languages in all scientific disciplines except engineering. The courses are offered through 16 departments organized into five faculties of science, arts and humanities, social sciences, law and medicine. It houses several specialised research centres, for instance, the Center for Near and Middle Eastern Studies(CNMS) which conducts intensive research in Middle eastern affairs. The university campus boasts of best-in-class sports centre that houses facilities of several gymnasiums, the Edersee clubhouse, boathouse, amongst others.
