History, Affiliations and Rankings

St Martin's College, Cumbria Institute of the Arts, and University of Central Lancashire's Cumbria locations merged in 2007, forming the University of Cumbria, which operates from campuses throughout Cumbria and North Lancashire. Although they are a new institution, they have a long and illustrious history that dates back to 1822. The university is still expanding, both in terms of its geographical reach and its academic offerings. It has an academic affiliation with Cathedrals Group, Million+ and Universities UK. The university is officially recognized/chartered by the Privy Council. In other important areas, the university was ranked joint 81st out of 547 participating universities in 'Gender Equality' and 69th out of 268 institutions in 'Life on Land.'. It obtains an overall rating of 201-300 out of 766, solidly placing it in the top 40% of universities globally.

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

The university has seven sites spanning the North West and London. The historic campuses are surrounded by natural beauty, dynamic student communities, and boundless professional prospects, and are spread among two World Heritage Sites, the Lake District National Park, and England's iconic capital city. Since World War I, the Fusehill Street campus has been the site of life-saving treatments. It now houses world-changers, life-savers, crime-fighters, and entrepreneurs who have access to high-quality facilities and innovative thinking. Medical Imaging, Sports Development, Arts, Law, Education, Leadership and Economic Development, Conservation, Forestry, and the Uplands, and Mental Health and Wellbeing are among the subjects taught at the University of Cumbria.
