The University of Canterbury was laid out in 1873 in the focal point of Christchurch (presently the Arts Center). Employers engage with the students of the university through work-integrated learning, internships, summer/winter work placements, etc. Graduates are given the opportunity to participate in career fairs and events which help them network with the company representatives of some of the top companies like the Ministry of Education of New Zealand, ANZ, Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, WSP in New Zealand, Fonterra, Aurecon, Bank of New Zealand, The University of Auckland, EY, Deloitte, GHD, etc.
