By an official charter in 1906, the first 2 year post secondary college had been founded which, in 1987, became the State University of New York College of Technology at Cantonor, SUNY Canton for short. The university has 3 schools - The Canino School of Engineering Technology, The School of Business and Liberal Arts and The School of Health, Science and Criminal Justice, together offering, 29 Bachelors’ degree programs, 21 Associate degree programs, 5 one year professional certificate programs and 19 online degree programs, featuring 450 online courses. The departments of, Center for Criminal Justice, Intelligence, and Cyber security, Liberal Arts, Mathematics and Nursing offer programs in the areas of – Animals, Architecture, Arts & Entertainment, Children, Computers, Business, Design, E-commerce, Criminal Justice, Engineering Technology, Environment, Electronics, International Relations, Healthcare, Politics and Law, Manufacturing, Public Service, Web Development, Teaching, Transportation and Sports. SUNY Canton also offers special training programs for, SUNY ESF Transfer Programs, the Police Academy and the Corrections Academy, Upstate Medical University Early Admissions Program, the Forest Technology, 1+1 Articulation Agreement with SUNY ESF and UB Law Degree (3+3) B.S. + J.D. There are 5 well furnished residence halls on the campus and students granted permission may choose off campus apartments too.
