Located in Twickenham, St Mary's Twickenham London is a public university with a distinguished history and is one of the oldest Roman Catholic universities in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1850 as the St Mary's University College, the university has been acclaimed to provide the best education in the Humanities and Olympic quality sports equipment. From the first intake of six students to being awarded full University status by the Privy Council in 2014, the University has developed a worldwide reputation for its teaching quality. It also offers some of the most unique courses in the nation and also provides career guidance and high-class facilities for a rewarding experience. St Mary is affiliated with the International Federation of Catholic Universities and the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities (ACCU). It is also associated with GuildHE and the Cathedrals Group. As per the Complete University Guide - University Ranking (UK) and The Guardian - University Rankings for 2022, St Mary's Twickenham University is placed at #107 and #101 respectively. 

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

The University's existing campus, located in the green area of London-Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames, is divided into 4 parts. The main campus is on Waldegrave Road in Twickenham, within the grounds of Strawberry Hill House; there is a hall of residence at 16 Strawberry Hill Road; the main sports fields are on the Teddington Lock campus in Broom Road, Teddington; and the new Naylor Library (also on Waldegrave Road) opened in the autumn of 2015. Strawberry Hill House, on the University grounds, is the best example of Georgian Gothic Revival architecture in the United Kingdom. Horace Walpole, historian, writer, collector, and son of Britain's first Prime Minister Sir Robert Walpole, conceived and built it as a Gothic dream between 1747 and 1792. St Mary’s has nearly 6,000 students across four academic Schools offering 34 Undergraduate degree programs, 24 Postgraduate programs, available to study on a full-time and part-time basis, as well as study abroad and Erasmus programs.

According to the Times/Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022, St Mary's University, Twickenham ranks among top 10 in the UK for teaching quality. The teacher training programs at the University have been recognized as "outstanding" by the UK Government. Further, the University has high student success rate with 96% of St. Mary's graduates in employment or in further education within 15 months of graduation. St. Mary's is also particularly known for its sporting excellence. It is one of the top-performing sports institutions in the UK and offers state-of-the-art sports equipment as well as funding opportunities to produce high-performance athletes. The university has a considerable list of alumni living across the globe. Some notable names include - Clara Amfo (Radio Presenter), Robert Thomas Beck (Actor), David Bedford (Athlete).
