Founded in 1769, Semmelweis University is a pioneer institution for higher education in the Central European region and Hungary within the discipline of Medicine and Health Sciences. Known to be a renowned knowledge centre, the university primarily focuses on research, education and healing. The academic programs at the Semmelweis University are offered in three different languages - Hungarian, German and English under 6 faculties to around 10,809 students out of which 11,000 are from various international countries. With most of the practical teaching conducted at clinics and hospitals of the university, it is also the largest health-care service provider in Hungary catering to the highest quality of patient care services. The university’s research group is dedicated to working for early diagnostics, therapy, disease prevention and active-ageing. Semmelweis University produces numerous graduates every year, out of which 42% are doctors, 70% of them are dentists, 27% are health care professionals and 50% are pharmacists. At present, 300 research groups are running at the Semmelweis University which consists of 31 international and 94 Hungarian research grants.
