Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ) is a private university in Lebanon. It was established in 1875 and is a teaching and research institution. Teaching, research and civic engagement are three pillars of this university. USJ aims at shaping its students for the development of the country and region. The university not only promotes excellence but also promotes dialogue through biculturalism and plurilingualism. Its mission is to serve all members of the community, not taking into consideration the social and ethnic differences. It strongly believes in diversity and maintains it among the faculty and student body. It encourages open dialogue and exchange of information keeping in mind that no freedoms are infringed and no academic activities are disrupted. The university has five campuses spread across Beirut and divided into the main departments, namely, Medical Sciences, Social Sciences and Technology, Human Sciences and Innovation & Sports. It also has 3 regional campuses in Dubai. The university comprises of various faculties, schools and institutes namely, Faculty of Religious Sciences, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Philosophy, School of Translators and Interpreters of Beirut, School of Medical Lab Technicians, School of Food Industry Engineering, Lebanese School of Social Work, Center for styling and Modeling, Institute of Occupational Therapy, Higher Institute of Public Health, amongst others.
