Sabanc? University, also known as Sabanc? Üniversitesi in Turkish, was established in 1994 in the historic city and capital, Istanbul in Turkey. The leading and one of the most prominent families of Turkey, Sabanc? family established Sabanc? University in 1994 under Sabanc? Group. In 1995, the international search conference was held which was organized by Sabanc? group in order to form the university’s development committees, program, design activities, etc. More than 50 academics from 22 countries participated in the International Search Conference. The ceremony of Sabanc? university took place on July 31, 1997 in Istanbul in which many academicians, world leaders and Turkey’s top officers and leaders made their presence. Today, Sabanc? University has three major faculties including the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (FENS), the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) and the School of Management (SOM) which prepare students for the diverse challenges of modernity and technology. SU offers wide range of programs at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels in Gender Students, Chemistry, Economics, Political Science, Management, Business Administration, Cultural Studies, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics, Business Analytics, Engineering, Cyber Security, Conflict Resolution and Analysis, History, European Studies, Turkish Studies, Executive MBA and many more. Sabanc? University also offers unique program called Foundations Development Year program which is designed for language students. Students who do not meet the University's English language proficiency standards enroll in the Foundations Development Year (FDY). Depending on their ELAE score, these students are placed in one of three levels of language instruction: Basic, Intermediate, or Upper Intermediate. Today, Sabanc? University, a young foundation university, has a one campus which is located on a 1.26 million sq. mtr. Land and about 40 km from Istanbul's city center. The campus provides number of facilities such as Cafes, Sports Activity Center, Museums, Sabanc? University Performing Arts Center (SGM), Health Center, Security Service and Business and Environment Safety. There are around 5,000 students enrolled in S Sabanc? University U with the presence of the academic staff of 500 members. the faculty student ratio of the university stands at 1:21.5. According to the QS and THE Ranking, Sabanc? University is ranked #521-530 and #401 in 2019.
