Founded in 1923, Radboud University started under the name of Catholic University Nijmegen. The University was established by the Dutch Catholics to promote the emancipation of Roman Catholics, who were underrepresented in the public, legal and all the sectors and Radboud University became the foundation behind that initiative. It has been affiliated with the European Universities Association, International federation of catholic universities, and Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities. QS global rankings have given it a global rank of #220. Times Higher Education has given it a global rank of #139. US News and World Report have given it a global rank of #107.
Radboud University has one of the most attractive campuses in the Netherlands, famous for its lush green campus. The campus is located in the southern Heyendaal estate of Nijmegen and houses 7 faculties that conduct teaching and research. Radboud University is organized in seven faculties that offer programs and courses in the fields of humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, medical sciences, law, management, philosophy, theology and religious studies.
Since its establishment 98 years ago, Radboud University has had a long road of history and accomplishments. Radboud University has been named best broad university in the Netherlands for the past seven consecutive years. The physics department is considered top tier. A recent accomplishment is its contribution to the first picture of a black hole.
