Abertay University was founded in 1888, in Dundee, Scotland, as the Dundee Technical Institute. It achieved status as the University of Abertay on August 17, 1994 after witnessing a boost in student enrolments. A small University renowned for its exceptional quality of teaching and student satisfaction, Abertay offers specialist degrees that are technology-driven and produce work-ready graduates. One of the top 10 universities in the UK for student satisfaction, Abertay is affiliated with Million+, GuildHE, and Universities Scotland. Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses
Abertay University is located in the vibrant and cosmopolitan city of Dundee in Scotland, which is a UNESCO designated City of Design. It boasts an outstanding infrastructure with a variety of modern amenities and comprises 4 primary buildings - the Kydd Building, Old College, Hannah Maclure Center, and the Students Center. Located in the Bell Street Complex, all of these four structures are grouped around the award-winning Bernard King Library. They feature large classrooms, laboratories, and study areas along with world-class living and dining amenities. Being a small University campus, you will often bump into your friends in-between classes as well as be closely connected to the major centers in the city. Abertay University offers a wide range of Postgraduate, Undergraduate, and Research degrees in Computer Games, Law, Economics, Finance, Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Nursing, Pharmacy, Sports and Behavioral Sciences. The University’s Computer Games degrees are top-performing, ranking best in Europe and in the world’s top 25.
Accomplishments and Alumni
Abertay University is the first University in the world to offer a degree in Computer Games and up till today, ranks best in Europe for the same and top 25 globally. For Games, the University collaborates with Peking University in Beijing, China. According to the Sunday Times 2020 data, Abertay was named the UK University of the Year for Teaching Quality. It is also Top 10 in the UK for Student Satisfaction with Teaching, Course and Feedback. For the 7th year in a row, the Princeton Review ranks Abertay as the Best in Europe for Video Games education. Abertay University has nearly 25,000 alumni, many of whom are well-known and successful. Shehzad Afzal (Award-winning Writer, Producer, who is best known for directing and producing the documentary film Bo Kata), Vikki Bunce (Professional Field Hockey Player for the Scottish National Team), Joe FitzPatrick (Scotland's Minister for Public Health, Sport, and Wellbeing).

Abertay University is a small campus with about 4,500 students, many of whom are international students. Students and faculty represent more than 60 countries on the campus. From Abertay University, you will graduate, not simply with a degree, but with a career. It also provides students with a variety of career services, including career mentoring and internship opportunities. Within six months of graduation, approximately 95% of the university's graduates find work or enroll in further education. Abertay University graduates go on to work for top multinationals including the likes of Amazon, Barclays Bank, BBC, Google, Coca Cola, Microsoft and others.
