Ans: I wholeheartedly agree that children should be immunised against diseases such as measles, smallpox, coronavirus, polio, and others. I feel it is the responsibility of parents to ensure that their children are vaccinated in order to protect them against similar diseases in the future. That being stated, I believe that immunisation is essential for children in this day and age.

When immunisations were not invented or widely employed on a worldwide scale, humanity faced adversity from a variety of diseases and plagues that wiped off or stunted the majority of the human population. Such infections were contagious and spread easily through personal contact, as well as by carriers such as rodents, mosquitoes, and so on. Doctors and medical professionals all around the world worked tirelessly to combat such epidemics and save the human race from extinction. Throughout history, mankind has supported and collaborated to develop vaccinations that could save the lives of millions of people all around the world. For example, in 1967, the World Health Organisation launched the Intensified Smallpox Eradication Programme, which at the time aimed to eradicate smallpox in 30 nations. Smallpox was mostly eradicated as a result of such efforts in key places such as Western Europe, North America, and Japan. With the development of vaccinations and the intrinsic desire to combat epidemics and diseases, the globe witnessed unity between nations that were at odds during the ongoing Cold War, namely the United States and the Soviet Union. Despite their political disagreements, these countries worked together to seek cures for a variety of severe diseases.

Vaccinations are a critical need in today’s world, particularly in the post-covid age. They can not only save a child’s life but also ensure that their growth and development are not hampered by such ailments. Children who are vaccinated at a young age are more likely to be immunised against potentially fatal diseases such as measles, smallpox, and others. With the advancement of great medical technologies, it is unfortunate that parents are still hesitant to vaccinate their children. Having said that, most of the diseases that formerly claimed the lives of countless children have now been eradicated due to the widespread use of vaccines around the world. Consider the case of polio. The aforementioned disease previously stunted the entire world and caused immense suffering, but polio is now a thing of the past, thanks to successful measures and collective efforts taken by governments all over the world to make vaccination mandatory.

Vaccines are generally safe for children, contrary to popular opinion. Only after numerous examinations and diagnoses are completed do doctors and experts medicate a child with a vaccine. Before being distributed to the population, these vaccines are doctored and evaluated.  Children may experience little discomfort after being vaccinated, however in comparison to the hardships produced by the diseases that these vaccines combat, the pain or discomfort is minimal. Parents who are concerned about vaccination side effects need not be alarmed since they occur infrequently in some circumstances and are therefore nothing to be concerned about.  Vaccinations, you see, have many more advantages than disadvantages.

To summarise, it is critical for parents to ensure that their children are vaccinated in order for them to be immune to some dangerous diseases. Vaccinations will not only save your child’s life but will also ensure that he or she does not develop life-altering disabilities as a result of such illnesses.
