Observer Research Foundation (ORF) hosted the session. Garceti also added that there is one consulate that just opened in Hyderabad and in Bengaluru and Ahmedabad 2 more consulates are yet to be opened. Since the last few weeks after forming the consulate in Hyderabad, the number of US visas issued to Indians has piled by 15%. This number is the highest in comparison to last year.

Eric Garceti also said this is not the end; we will be serving many students, workers, and tourists in the upcoming days/months. He also mentioned that the delay was due to a high number of applications received. He also said the target is to process 1 million visas in 2023.

India and the US have collabed many times in the past to simplify the visa process. In the past, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a notable development during his recent visit that Indian professionals are not required to leave the US to renew their H1B visa.

What is an H1B Visa?

The H1B visa is a non-immigrant visa category that sees thousands of Indians applying for opportunities in the United States each year. It enables American companies to hire foreign workers, particularly for roles requiring specialized technical skills. Usually, employers hire workers on H1B visas for three to six years, and individuals who apply for a Green Card while on an H1B visa can seek renewal.
