The University of Miami offers several merit scholarships to students. The scholarships are available to incoming fall first-year students. Generally, university scholars are students from around the world whose academic qualifications, experiences, and interests develop the educational community of the university. The beneficiaries of the University of Miami First-Year Merit Scholarships are notified at the time of admission. However, the Office of Undergraduate Admission can grant them only 1 merit scholarship. The merit scholarships offered by the university are competitive and limited to 1st-year students entering the spring semester.
Stamps Scholarships
The Stamp scholarship is given to high school seniors demonstrating exceptional academic achievement. The scholarship benefit is full tuition fee cover for 4 years of undergraduate study. Additionally, you will receive a meal plan and on-campus housing facility. Moreover, the university health insurance, laptop allowance, and textbook expenses are covered. You will also receive an amount of $12,000 as an enrichment fund that you can use to take up undergraduate research or unpaid internships. The deadline for the scholarship is November 1st.
Isaac Bashevis Singer Scholarship
The University of Miami awards the Isaac Bashevis Singer Scholarship to academically accomplished and exceptional high school seniors. Named after the Nobel Prize-winning author and UM lecturer Isaac Bashevis Singer, this scholarship recognizes outstanding academic achievement. Singer scholars selected can receive full tuition fee coverage for 4 years of undergraduate study. Applications would close by November 1st.
Other Merit Scholarships
Apart from the scholarships mentioned above, there are two other scholarships that you can apply for. The first one is the President’s Scholarship. The scholarship benefit is an amount of up to $28,000 annually. The second scholarship is the Canes Achievement Award. The benefit is an amount of up to $16,000 annually. To be eligible, you must submit all first-year admission requirements by November 1st (to apply under Early Decision I) or January 1st (to apply under the early action deadline).
All University of Miami scholarship beneficiaries must complete a full-time undergraduate degree program at the university (not less than 24 credit hours per academic year). Moreover, they must maintain a cumulative grade point average 3.0 for the academic year.
