Bellevue College recently received a grant from the US Department of State’s Increase and Diversify Education Abroad (IDEAS) program. This program has been made for US students, the college shared this month.
The college has come up with an IDEAS initiative, which focuses on boosting study-abroad opportunities globally. Till now, it has presented grants to 34 colleges and universities nationwide.
All the selected proposals will develop new international partnerships, train faculty and staff. They will also internationalize curriculum, and engage diverse students involved in studying abroad.
They will also broaden the destinations where students from the US can study, with great visual and hybrid exchanges.
In order to work on this place, Bellevue College will send three faculty members to the Normandy region of France. They will help in building short-term study-abroad VR and AR components to supplement the course.
The course will also include an overview of the Normandy region with a special focus on first-time visitors and all those physically handicapped students.
Until 2016, the IDEAS program has awarded 179 grants to 173 US colleges and universities in 49 states and territories. This will help in creating, expanding and diversifying the US study abroad programs in 71 countries across the globe.
