Study in UK: University of Edinburgh Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarship Application Open for Academic Year 2024-25 

The University of Edinburgh is offering Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships for the academic year 2024-25. Under this scholarship programme, a total of 55 scholarships are available to students. Students enrolling in an eligible online master’s programme at the University of Edinburgh can apply for the award. The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office provides scholarship funding for candidates from low and middle-income countries. Beneficiaries from these countries can have their entire tuition fee expenses covered. Moreover, the award is tenable for up to 3 years of part-time study. 

Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

The Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarship eligibility requirements are as follows:

• The applicant must be a citizen/must be granted refugee status from an eligible Commonwealth country. The British-protected persons are also eligible for the scholarship
• Additionally, the applicant must be permanently and continually resident in an eligible Commonwealth country.
• Must hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) standard. However, in certain cases, those with a lower qualification and relevant experience can be taken into consideration
• The applicants must provide a minimum of 1 reference 
• The candidates must also hold an offer letter to start their chosen course of study in 2024

Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarship Application Process 

The Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarship application process is as follows:

• First, the applicant must secure an offer letter to enrol in a programme of study. Make sure to apply for an eligible programme of choice through the ‘degree finder’
• Next, obtain a conditional/unconditional offer letter from the university. Although the scholarship application is possible with a conditional offer letter, it is important to eventually secure an unconditional offer letter to become a student at the university.
• Thirdly, apply for the Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships by submitting the relevant documents.

The Scholarship committee will decide on the application within 4 weeks of the final closing of applications. The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission selection committee will select the distance learning scholars from the list of nominated candidates. The final results will be announced in July this year.
