Thompson Rivers University (TRU) offers several international scholarships for the academic year 2024. Most of these scholarships are given as tuition fee discounts. However, the exact scholarship benefit may vary depending on the scholarship type. Interested students must meet the eligibility requirements. Thompson Rivers University Scholarships are either application-based or non-application-based awards. Whether you need to apply for the scholarship depends solely on the scholarship type. TRU International Social Media Ambassador Awards

Every year the International Marketing Department offers this scholarship to students who are creative, enthusiastic, and relate well to students around the world. This scholarship requires application. You need to have excellent communication skills and must be involved in student-related activities at the university to receive the scholarship. The benefit is a financial award, social media training, development of cross-cultural communication skills., and experience for resume.

Engineering Scholarships

TRU awards Engineering Scholarships to international students enrolling in a 2-year Engineering Transfer program. The scholarship provides $3,000 over four semesters. However, only two students will receive this scholarship. No application is necessary.

International Athletic Scholarships

The International Athletic scholarships are available to anyone competing for any 1 of TRU’s Varsity Teams. You must be a full-time student enrolling in degree-granting credit hours, and meet the  U SPORTS regulations to become eligible. However, students enrolling in an ESL course is not eligible. Eligible disciplines are Swimming, Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, etc. The coaches would distribute the scholarship dollars (amount not specified). Moreover, you need to send an application.

Academic Excellence Award

TRU grants the Academic Excellence Award to students who secure a minimum GPA of 86% (A) during their last college or high school. The scholarship benefit is an amount of $2,000. You will receive an amount of $1,000. Later on, you receive the rest of the scholarship award as long as you maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 during the first semester. However, TRU awards this scholarship only to new students. No application is necessary.

Exceptional Student Award

The Exceptional Student Award is for students with a minimum GPA of 80% (A-) in the last year of high school or college. Moreover, they must have attained at least an IELTS score of 6.5. The scholarship benefit is an amount up to  $4,000. No application is necessary.
