Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) has launched the GMAT Focus Edition with a shorter duration for steering admissions in graduate business programs. The test is chiefly enhanced to better judge a student’s performance in a business school. For the same reason, it has also been updated with the needs of a contemporary business environment.
Testing based on the new GMAT pattern will start from the 07th of November 2023 however, candidates sitting for the exam before this date will follow the old pattern. Nonetheless, the current version of the GMAT will also be available until early 2024 for the ease of students who have already started preparing.
GMAC aims to attract students who are passionate about a business degree. They also want to bring a diverse candidature to foreign universities through the exam. Hence they have introduced an evolved and focused GMAT exam that is redesigned with the help of leading business schools and their prospective students.

Latest GMAT Exam Pattern and Its Implementation
The GMAT registration for the new exam pattern is now open! For candidates whose preparation is underway can still opt for the old pattern until early 2024. Meanwhile, the new testing pattern will start from the 07th of November 2023. The official GMAT preparation material will also remain available for both test patterns for the time being.
As for the new pattern, it has only 3 sections each for a duration of 45 minutes. Moreover, there will be only 64 questions in all and the essay section has been completely waved off. Regardless, these changes make the exam shorter by almost an hour. The exam duration has also been reduced to 2 hours and 15 minutes.

The new GMAT pattern also features flexibility. Students can soon review and edit questions as well. GMAC has incorporated these features to enhance the candidate’s experience by providing them with the option to select the order of sections.
Candidates can also access an improved official score report which will also assess their areas of strengths and weaknesses. Once the report has been released, candidates can also send their scores to 5 schools for free.
