Study Abroad: FSU Proposed Merging the Colleges of Education, Health, and Human Sciences 

Jim Clark, the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at FSU, said that the merger of these three units will develop numerous opportunities. In order to support the teaching, research, and service mission of the university. 

He also added that the university will be able to create a robust entry by taking this initiative. The university will consider the success of both colleges while focusing on merging. 

The expansion will prove numerous benefits, including providing additional resources to the students, research collaboration, and new contributions to the college as per the future goals. 

The primary objective of this initiative is to transform the overall delivery of healthcare delivery in Northern Florida. While also coming up with more effective opportunities for jobs, care options, research, and educational opportunities. 

Before taking this decision, Clerk proposed this expansion to the stakeholders from both colleges, McCullough, and university administrators to create an agreement for future moves. 

Mccullough was extremely supportive of the proposal and stated that the merger will boost the research synergies amongst the students as well as boost the resources. Furthermore, this move will strengthen the university in future. 

What Changes Will be Implemented?

Even though the names of the colleges will be changing soon, some specific factors such as the buildings that will be used for the operations of the new building will stay identical. These include Sandels Building, William Johnston Building, Stone Building, and the Tully Gym. 

In addition, some specific majors, as well as degrees, will also be offered by the new college, along with the six different academic units that exist within the College of Education, Human Sciences, and College of Health. 

Thanks to the merger, interdisciplinary collaboration and research would be able to leverage more benefits along with the students and faculty members. 

The proposed merger will benefit both colleges in the future and present. The new college will undoubtedly become a great addition to the academic offerings of FSU.
