Q. Describe a time when you overcame a major challenge. What strategies did you use to succeed?
Ans. One of the significant challenges I overcame was when I decided to run a marathon for the first time. I had never run more than 6-7 kilometres, so the idea of running 20 kilometres seemed daunting. To tackle this challenge, I started by setting a clear goal and creating a structured training plan. I broke down the marathon distance into manageable weekly running targets, gradually increasing my weekly mileage. This approach helped me build endurance without overwhelming myself by trying to do it all at once.
I also sought advice from experienced runners and joined a local running group. Their support and encouragement kept me motivated and provided valuable tips to improve my technique and stay injury-free. Mental preparation was another crucial aspect. I practised visualization techniques, imagining myself crossing the finish line, which boosted my confidence and determination.
On race day, I reminded myself to stay positive and focus on my goal. Despite facing physical and mental exhaustion, I completed the marathon. This experience taught me the importance of perseverance, planning, and seeking support from others.
