Ques. Describe a time when you had to give a presentation or speech.
Ans. I remember when I had to give a presentation during my final year of college. It was a subject based on environmental science, and my topic was “The Impact of Plastic Pollution on Marine Life”. I remember spending weeks researching and preparing my slides to ensure that I had accurate data and compelling visuals. On the presentation day, I felt both excitement and nervousness. As I started speaking, I focused on explaining the key points clearly and confidently. I used images and statistics to highlight the severity of plastic pollution and its effects on ocean ecosystems. One example I shared was about sea turtles mistaking plastic bags for jellyfish, which often leads to fatal consequences. My classmates were engaged, and some even asked questions at the end, which I was able to answer confidently thanks to my thorough preparation. This experience not only improved my public speaking skills but also deepened my understanding of environmental issues. It was a valuable and rewarding experience.
Follow-up Question
Ques. What strategies did you use to overcome your nervousness and deliver an effective presentation?
Ans. To overcome my nervousness, I practised my presentation multiple times in front of friends and family, which helped build my confidence. I also made sure to breathe deeply and stay focused on my key points. Visualising a successful presentation and reminding myself of my thorough preparation also helped me stay calm and composed.
