A France long-stay visa is granted for both self-employed and salaried employees. Under the salaried employees category, you can be : 

  • Posted by an employer to provide a service 
  • Take part in intra-group mobility while staying in a contract with your employer
  • You can be hired for a fixed time/indefinite period by a French employer
  • Take up a professional course in a training organisation or company
  • Work under the International Talent category if you are increasing the economic attractiveness of the country as an employee,
  • Or choose to work as a young employee.

Work authorisation is required for all types of salaried employment in France. Your employer needs to apply for a work permit. After receiving the work permit, you can apply for a work visa.

  • You must have an ID photograph
  • Those who are not nationals of India must prove that they are a legal resident of the country
  • Proof that you have sufficient funds for the duration of your stay 
  • Proof of accommodation for the duration of your internship, and 
  • Travel insurance that is valid for at least 3 months of stay 

Taking Up Official Duties 

The France work visa requirements for taking up official duties are as follows:

  • You need a travel document that is issued within the last 10 years. The travel document or passport must have at least 2 blank pages and must be valid for more than 3 months of your visa expiry date. You need to scan all the pages of your document.
  • You must have an ID photograph
  • Those who are not nationals of India must prove that they are a legal resident of the country
  • Those who have an official travel document need to present a note verbale. The note verbale is issued by the  Ministry of Foreign Affairs/diplomatic mission/international organisation/another ministry.

Talent Passports International Talents 

The Talent Passports-International Talent visa is granted for purposes. For example, a business creator, an employee on a mission, an artistic or cultural professional, an investor, a qualified employee, a scientist, etc. To apply for any of these categories the general requirements are:

  • You must have a travel document issued within the last 10 years. The travel document or passport must have at least 2 blank pages and be valid for more than 3 months of the visa expiry date. You need to scan all the pages of your document.
  • You must have an ID photograph
  • Those who are not nationals of India must prove that they are a legal resident of the country
  • Those who have an official travel document need to present a note verbale.
  • Proof of sufficient funds for the duration of your stay (if applicable)

Specific Requirements Based on the Purpose of Visit

Artistic and cultural profession:

The employer must submit an updated certificate of registration (Kbis extract), and proof of payment of social contributions. You must also have proof of funds originating from your activity(70% of the minimum legal wage) for the month of your stay

Business Creator

Documents proving that you can carry out the planned retail, manufacturing or crafting activity, a degree equivalent to a Master’s, proof of no criminal record, opinion of the Ministry of Economy, and proof of company registration. Apart from these requirements, you need to invest €30,000 in the business project. You also need to have sufficient financial resources.

Company representative

Offer letter to work as a company representative in France. Additionally, your salary must be equal to the 3 times the minimum wage in France. You also need to submit proof of seniority.

An employee on a mission

Complete the Cerfa form n°15616*01, and prove that you have a gross salary equal to 1.8 times annual salary in France. You also need to prove your seniority in the group or the company established outside France.

Employee recruited in an innovative enterprise

Complete the Cerfa forms n°15614*04. You need to submit a Certificate of recognition of the innovative nature of the company (established by the Minister of the Economy and Finance) etc.

Highly qualified employee EU Blue Card 

Must have a degree from 3 years of higher education, and 5 years of professional experience in a similar field. 

Innovative Economic Project

Present proof of funds, proof that a public body has recognised your project and that the project is innovative in France.

Investor

Prove that the investment has been made (€300,000), proof of leadership of a company or 30% ownership, proof that you will safeguard jobs or create within 4 years of investing in French territory.

Mobility Researcher

Diploma/MA degree, and an agreement on hosting a researcher or professor provided by an accredited institution.

Qualified Employee

 A diploma at is equivalent to a Master’s degree issued by a higher educational institution, Cerfa form n°15614*04, company registration certificate, and certificate of social insurance contributions.

A person with a national or international reputation 

Proof of funds and additional documents to be submitted by the employer like the certificate of registration.

Scientist/Researcher

You need an MA degree or higher. You also need an agreement to host a researcher-teacher issued by an accredited institution.

How to Apply for a France Work Visa?

The application process for a France work visa is available on the official website of the France visas. The application form is filled out automatically. You just need to enter the details
