How are Adverbs Used?

A sentence’s adverbs describe how, when, where and to what extent something can occur. They are also used to modify entire sentences by expressing views or making any kind of evaluation. For example, She is extremely beautiful by heart. In the above-given example, the word extremely is an adverb as they describe an adjective, ie, beautiful or stating a viewpoint.

These adverbs express the speaker’s level of certainty or confidence about the action.

Example: Certainly, she will be here on time.

  • Adverbs of Affirmation and Negation:

These adverbs either confirm or deny the action or statement.

Example: He finished the project.

  • Adverbs of Sequence:

These adverbs indicate the order or sequence of actions.

Example: First, we need to prepare the ingredients.

These adverbs express the intention or purpose behind an action.
