2. India Welcomes New Members to BRICS Economic Group:

India welcomed Egypt, Iran, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Ethiopia as new BRICS members. Their representatives attended their first key BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, following the expansion of the group in 2023.

3. Maldives Reviews Agreements Signed with India:

Maldives’ Parliament will investigate four agreements signed with India during President Solih’s administration, claiming they threaten the country’s sovereignty and independence. This decision comes amid President Muizzu’s visit to India.

4. Cabinet Approves Funds for 3 Crore Houses under PMAY:

The Union Cabinet approved government assistance for constructing three crore houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). Since 2015, the scheme has completed 4.21 crore houses for eligible poor families, aiming to provide basic amenities.

5. Centre Releases Rs 1.39 Lakh Crore Tax Devolution to States:  

The Centre authorized the release of Rs 1,39,750 crore in tax devolution to states for June, including an extra installment. This funding aims to accelerate development and capital spending across the states.

6. Congress Launches ‘Thank You’ Campaign in Uttar Pradesh:

The Congress party will start a ‘Dhanyavad Yatra’ across Uttar Pradesh’s 403 assemblies. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will thank Raebareli and Amethi supporters at an event today, with the yatra continuing until June 15.

7. Telangana CM Announces Formation of Farmer & Education Commissions:  

Telangana’s Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced plans to form a farmers’ commission and an education commission. These commissions aim to address farmers’ grievances and improve the education system by formulating new policies.

8. Meghalaya Adopts CBSE Syllabus for Class 11 Arts Stream:

The Meghalaya government adopted the CBSE syllabus for ten Class 11 Arts subjects, including English, Geography, and History. Teachers are concerned due to the delayed release of the syllabus by the Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT).

9. CBSE Warns Students, and Parents of Misinformation About Syllabus:

CBSE advised students and parents to beware of misinformation about the 2024-25 academic session syllabus and materials. The Board recommended checking the official CBSE website for accurate information and updates.

10. University Grants Commission (UGC) to Offer Admissions Twice a Year:

The University Grants Commission (UGC) announced that Indian universities will offer admissions twice a year, starting from the 2024-25 session. This aligns with foreign institutions and aims to enhance employment opportunities through biannual campus recruitment.
