Even at such a young age, they showed courage greater than many adults. They were captured by the Mughal ruler Wazir Khan of Sirhind in the year 1705. The Sahibzadas were asked to give up their faith and accept another religion. They refused bravely.
Because of their strong belief and fearless stand, they were bricked alive inside a wall. This cruel act shocked the entire nation. Their sacrifice became a powerful symbol of standing up for truth and justice, no matter how young or weak someone may appear.

Today, I would like to speak about the importance of Veer Bal Diwas, which is observed every year on 26 December. This special day is dedicated to remembering the supreme sacrifice of the four sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the founder of the Khalsa Panth.
The word Veer means brave, and Bal means children. Veer Bal Diwas reminds us that even children can show extraordinary courage when they stand for truth and righteousness.
Guru Gobind Singh Ji had four sons. The elder sons, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Ji and Sahibzada Jujhar Singh Ji, sacrificed their lives while fighting bravely in the Battle of Chamkaur in 1705. They fought against a large Mughal army and laid down their lives while protecting their faith and people.
The younger sons, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh Ji (9 years old) and Sahibzada Fateh Singh Ji (7 years old), were captured along with their grandmother Mata Gujri Ji. They were kept in cold conditions in the Thanda Burj of Sirhind. Despite hunger, fear, and pressure, the Sahibzadas remained firm in their beliefs.
The Mughal governor Wazir Khan offered them wealth and safety if they agreed to convert their religion. The young boys refused without hesitation. Because of their courage, they were bricked alive on 26 December 1705. Mata Gujri Ji passed away soon after hearing the news of her grandsons’ martyrdom.
Their sacrifice is one of the most painful yet inspiring chapters in Indian history. To honour their bravery, the Government of India announced Veer Bal Diwas in the year 2022. The aim is to educate students about courage, moral strength, and standing against injustice.
