The National Science Olympiad 2023-24 (NSO) will be conducted from 17th October 2023 onwards. The NSO 2023 will be organised in three phases (exams), where Exam Level 1 will be held on 17th October 2023, Exam Level 2 on 21st November 2023 and Exam 3 on 5th December 2023. 

The National Science Olympiad is a national-level competitive exam that is organised at the school level by the Science Olympiad Foundation. The Science Olympiad Foundation annually releases the notification for the commencement of the National Science Olympiad (NSO). How to Apply for the National Science Olympiad 2023-24?

The National Science Olympiad 2023-24 registration process has started. Students studying in Classes Ist to XIIth will have to apply for the National Science Olympiad via their respective schools or institutions. Students are advised to follow the below-given instructions.

  • You will receive a prospectus consisting of the NSO registration form.
  • Students who are studying in a school that is not registered with the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF), can ask for the prospectus by contacting the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) via phone at 0124-4951200 or mail them at info@sofworld.org.
  • Fill out the registration form by entering all the required information and submitting it to your school.
  • Pay the registration fee, which is INR 125 for all candidates.
  • Your school will return the filled registration form to the SOF.

National Science Olympiad Eligibility Criteria

The National Science Olympiad is conducted for school students to asses their academic and scientific knowledge. The NSO 2023-24 will be conducted in three phases, and on different dates. The National Science eligibility criteria will be different for level 1 and level 2 exams.

Level 1 Exam

The Level 1 exam doesn’t have any specific eligibility criteria. This exam is open to all students who are currently enrolled in Classes Ist to XIIth. This level exam is open to all school students and there are no criteria for minimum marks.

Level 2 Exam

The Level 2 exam will be conducted only for those candidates who will score well in the Level 1 exam. Students appearing for the Level 2 exam must fulfil the following conditions.

  • Of all the students who appeared for Level 1, only the top 5% will be selected.
  • There will be 25 zone-wise rank holders from each Class.
  • Every class topper from participating schools with at least 10 students from a class will be allowed to appear for the exam and their scores must be at least 50%.

Students who secure positions in the National Science Olympiad are awarded medals, certificates and cash prizes. The NSO awards are distributed at both zonal and international levels. Below we have discussed all the NSO awards according to their levels.
