About NIRF Rankings
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) has been authorised by the Ministry of Education of the Government of India as a ranking method to assess Indian higher education institutions. The framework was presented by the Minister on September 29, 2015, following approval from the previous Ministry of Human Resource Development.
Based on their functional domains, institutions have been divided into 11 separate groups, including universities, colleges, management, legal, medical, engineering, pharmacy, architectural, dental, and research. The Framework assigns rankings to different criteria, such as research, stakeholder perception, and the availability of resources. Five groups of these parameters were created, and a certain amount of weight was assigned to each group.
