It is primarily held in eight major locations across the nation. The GATE Committee (composed of faculty members from IISc and seven other IITs) is responsible for administering the exam. GATE Biotechnology 2023 Exam Dates

The GATE Biotechnology exam was held on February 11th, 2023. It took place between 2:30 and 5:30 p.m. (IST) in the afternoon session. The exam’s questionnaire consisted mostly of objective-based questions and carried a total weightage of 100 marks. The admit cards/hall tickets for the aforementioned exam were distributed on January 3rd.

Aspirants were required to register themselves between the 30th of August, 2022 and the 7th of October, 2022. Individuals who were awaiting their results were obliged to review their scores on the 16th of March, 2023. Candidates who faced discrepancies in their registration forms were required to file for corrections between the 8th of November, 2022 and the 11th of November, 2022.

GATE Biotechnology 2023 Application Process

Candidates who appeared for the GATE Biotechnology  (2023) Exam were needed to register themselves within the deadline to ensure a seamless selection process. The entire registration process for the said exam was divided into the following steps: Registration, filling out forms, uploading documents and payment of fees. Candidates who faced discrepancies in their registration forms were required to apply for the rectification process. The rectification of application forms was administered between November 8, 2022, and  November 11, 2022. 

Prospective candidates were required to apply for the said exam on the official website of the conducting body. The registration process entailed students filling in the requisite credentials and paying the application fee.

  • Applicants must first visit the official website and click on the application link.
  • It is crucial for aspirants to fill in the appropriate information to ensure a successful registration procedure. 
  • After entering their information, candidates must generate and authenticate an OTP for their phone numbers.
  • This will take candidates to a different page. To ensure a successful application procedure, one must click on the ‘Register’ option. 
  • Candidates will receive their allocated User ID/App number and passwords by SMS and Email. 
  • Applicants must choose their preferred exam and fill in the necessary information (personal, category, and academic). 
  • Re-evaluation of data is a must before the submission of application forms. 
  • To ensure a successful application process, candidates must pay the required registration cost.  

GATE Biotechnology Exam Application Fee

To ensure a smooth and successful registration procedure, candidates must pay the required application fee. It should be noted that the application fee for the abovementioned exam can vary depending on specific factors such as the candidate’s Category, Gender, and Nationality. 

Furthermore, if a candidate fails to pay the registration cost by the deadline, he or she will be charged an additional 500 INR (regardless of category, nationality, or gender).

GATE Biotechnology 2023 Eligibility 

It is the responsibility of conducting organisations to propose a specific list of eligibility conditions. These requirements must be met by candidates to be considered eligible to take an exam. GATE Biotechnology Exam Pattern 2023

It is crucial for candidates to get well acquainted with the set patterns to grasp the structure of any examination. Doing so helps candidates-

The GATE Biotechnology 2023 Exam was administered through CBT (Computer Based Test) mode. The exam consisted mostly of objective-based questions and carried a total weightage of 100 marks. Candidates who had taken the exam were given a time limitation of three hours to complete it.  +1 and +2 marks were awarded for every correct response. 

Incorrect responses to one-mark questions lead to the deduction of  ⅓ marks. Similarly, for every incorrect response to two-mark questions, candidates faced a deduction of 2/3 marks.  Apart from the objective-based questions, the GATE BT 2023 questionnaire featured ‘Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions’. There was no negative marking for incorrect responses to NAT-based questions. 

Candidates must carefully analyse the questionnaire before answering given that some questions can be challenging or ambiguous, leading to incorrect answers. This can make one lose their marks.
