University of Calcutta PG Admission 2025 (Official Update)

The University of Calcutta has officially begun accepting applications for its PG courses in various academic departments, which are offered through affiliated colleges and the main university campus. 

For M.Sc. (M.A.)/B.Tech./M.Sc. (Ag.) Courses for the academic year 2025–2026, under the Faculty of Science, Technology, Agriculture, and Home Science, as well as PG courses in undergraduate colleges affiliated with C.U., the application window is open from 23rd July to 1st August 2025.

Applications for centralized admission to Postgraduate Courses in Commerce (M.Com) in the University Department of Commerce and affiliated undergraduate colleges (excluding Minority/Autonomous Colleges of the University), as well as for admission to M.A., M.A./M.Sc. (Archaeology, Economics, Museology), and the Integrated B.Lib.I.Sc..–M.Lib.I.Sc. courses, have started from July 24, 2025, and will continue until August 8, 2025.

Eligibility Criteria for University of Calcutta PG Admission 2025 

In this section, we have provided the eligibility criteria for University of Calcutta PG Admission 2025 for the Faculty of Science, Technology, Agriculture, and Home Science, the Faculty Council for Postgraduate Studies in Commerce, Social Welfare and Business Management, and the Faculty Councils for Postgraduate Studies in Arts, Education, Journalism, and Library Science.

Faculty of Science, Technology, Agriculture, and Home Science

The eligibility criteria for the faculty of science, technology, agriculture, and home science are provided below.

  • Applicants must possess a relevant Honours degree (e.g. B.Sc. for M.Sc.) or equivalent from a recognized university.
  • A minimum of 55% aggregate marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD) in the qualifying degree is required
  • The course-specific eligibility (subject combination or extended requirements) applies as listed in the official brochure under Sections 3 & 4 for these faculties.
  • Admissions are divided into Part A (CU alumni) and Part B (Non‑CU graduates). Part A seats are filled purely on merit, whereas Part B candidates may also need to take an entrance test, depending on the program.

Faculty Council for Postgraduate Studies in Commerce, Social Welfare and Business Management, and the Faculty Councils for Postgraduate Studies in Arts, Education, Journalism, and Library Science

The eligibility criteria for the Faculty Council for Postgraduate Studies in Commerce, Social Welfare and Business Management, and the Faculty Councils for Postgraduate Studies in Arts, Education, Journalism, and Library Science are pointed out below.

  • Candidates must have completed a three-year Honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum qualifying marks: 50% aggregate for the general category (40% for SC/ST/PWD) 
  • Integrated B.Lib.I.Sc..–M.Lib.I.Sc. candidates must additionally hold a master’s degree or a professional degree of 4 or 5 years duration in any discipline from a recognized university.
  • Admission is offered via two lists: Part A for CU Honours graduates (admission on merit) and Part B for external graduates via an entrance test plus merit ranking.

How to Apply for the University of Calcutta PG Courses?

Below, we have provided the step-by-step instructions regarding the application process for the Calcutta University PG courses in 2025.

  1. Visit the official University of Calcutta admissions portals: caluniv.ac.in or caluniv-ucsta.net/
  2. Click on “New Admission” or “New Applicants?
  3. Create a New Account” and provide a valid email address to register and set a password following the specified format (6–13 characters, must include uppercase, lowercase, digit, and special character).
  4. After registration, you will be emailed login credentials
  5. Log in using the received credentials and fill out the application form
  6. Select the desired PG course(s) and specify the order of preference (this cannot be changed later)
  7. Fill in the required personal, academic, and category details
  8. Upload scanned documents (passport-size photo, signature, mark sheets, certificates) as per guidelines.
  9. After submitting the application form online, a Challan will be generated
  10. Deposit the fee in cash or DD at the designated University cash counter using the Challan
