RBI Assistant Exam Pattern 2023
The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection will hold RBI Assistant 2023 to choose qualified applicants for the position of Assistant. For a candidate to advance to the Language Proficiency round, they must pass both the preliminary exam and the main exam. The appointment letter is given to the candidates who made the cut after the language proficiency round.
There are three stages to the selection process for assistants through the RBI Assistant 2023 Exam:
- Online Preliminary Exam
- Online Mains Exam
- Language Proficiency Test

- There will be three sections—English language, numerical ability, and reasoning ability—each with 100 questions.
- The RBI Assistant Prelims Exam has a 60-minute time limit (with 20 minutes allotted for each section).
- For each incorrect response, 0.25 marks will be deducted; there will be no deduction for unanswered questions.
- The tests will consist of objective questions.
- All other sections, excluding English Language, will be in Hindi and English.
- The Prelims Exam is a qualifying examination, so the results will not be factored into the merit list.

- 200 questions across 5 categories—English language, quantitative aptitude, computer knowledge, general awareness, and reasoning ability—will be included.
- The RBI Assistant Mains Examination will last 135 minutes. Timing for each section is listed above.
- For each incorrect response, 0.25 marks will be deducted; there will be no deduction for unanswered questions.
- The tests will consist of objective-style questions.
- All other sections, with the exception of English Language, will be in Hindi and English.
- After passing the main exam, candidates will be called for the language proficiency test, and the results will be used to create a merit list.

Language Proficiency Test (LPT) 2023
Only a certain number of applicants will be invited to the Language Proficiency Test based on their overall performance in the main online examination. The applicant who cannot communicate effectively in the official or local language will be disqualified.
The Bank will determine this number in relation to the number of announced openings to be filled.According to the official RBI Assistant notification, the following local languages will be tested:
- Ahmedabad – Gujarati
- Bhopal – Hindi
- Bengaluru – Kannada
- Bhubaneswar – Odia
- Chandigarh -Punjabi/Hindi
- Chennai -Tamil
