The IPMAT exam was conducted on 23rd May 2024 in a single shift having a duration of 2 hours. Candidates must understand the IPMAT Exam Day guidelines properly so they can handle everything easily. The exam was conducted in a single shift in 36 cities between 2 pm to 4 pm for admission to 5 years IPM course that provides a combined BBA and MBA degree. Both IIM Indore and IIM Ranchi accept the IPMAT score along with several other universities. To avoid facing problems during the examination IIM Indore has released some important guidelines that will help candidates in many ways. IPMAT Exam Day Guidelines

You can follow certain IPMAT exam day guidelines to avoid any problems during the important day. As you have prepared the whole year for the examination and now a silly mistake could not ruin your preparations. So, must remember this important guideline during the exam day for IPMAT.

  • Before proceeding to the exam center candidates must keep all the important documents that are required during the examination.
  • The candidates must reach the examination centre one hour before the start of the exam. They must understand the location and can visit the place one day before the examination if they are new to the city.
  • Must take a transparent water bottle, hand sanitiser, and stationery items such as a blue pen with you for the examination.
  • After reaching the exam center check your roll number on the list and go to the room that is allotted to you.
  • Candidates must avoid any kind of cheating and use of unfair means for clearing the examination as it could have serious consequences. If caught cheating they will get debarred from appearing for examination.

IPMAT Exam Day Preparations

The important thing in the IPMAT exam is its preparation, candidates can follow certain tips mentioned below:

  • The first and most important step is to read the instructions carefully before starting the exam which are given in the question paper of IPMAT.
  • Every candidate giving the examination should remember to skip the questions they don’t know about as there is negative marking for wrong answers. It is advisable to skip rather than to answer wrong during the IPMAT exam.
  • Sticking to the sectional time limits is a crucial step that candidates should follow. It is important to keep in mind the timings for each section and complete the exam on time. 
  • The window will be closed after the time of examination is completed so it is crucial to attempt the questions you know properly. It is useless to spend too much time on lengthy questions which you do not know.

Mistakes to Avoid on IPMAT Exam Day

Some mistakes that you can avoid on the exam day are:

  • Avoid being late during the day of the examination. You can set an alarm for the early morning and prepare accordingly for the examination. Ensure to reach one hour before the conduct of the examination.
  • Don’t get overconfident by thinking that the exam will be easy and I will easily clear it. Always prepare well for every subject along with solving different difficulty-level questions. 
  • Take some time and review the answers before submitting them. Check you have taken all the documents before getting out for the examination.

Documents To Carry on IPMAT Exam Day

The candidates are required to carry the following documents during the day of the IPMAT examination. Some of the documents that are needed are:

  • The most important document during the IPMAT exam day is the ID proof, an admit card, and a passport-size photo. Candidates must bring two copies of the admit card for the examination.
  • Other identification proof of documents such as an Aadhaar card, PAN card, driver’s license, PAN card, voter ID, UID card, or university/college ID card)

The IPMAT exam is a crucial management examination that is conducted each year by IIM Indore. So, it is advisable not to carry certain things on the Exam day given below:

  • Electronic Gadgets
  • Avoid wearing Belts
  • Watch
  • Vehicle Keys
  • Metallic Items
  • Paper
  • Mobile Phones
  • Foods
  • Jewellery

Section-Wise Strategies for IPMAT Exam 

Always target a specific score when you are preparing for the IPMAT exam. Here, are the section-wise strategies for IPMAT that you can follow for IPMAT.

Verbal Ability

There are 45 MCQ-based questions in the section for which 40 minutes were given to you to solve each. You can divide the section into two parts and follow the given suggestions.

  • First, you are required to attempt the questions on fill-in-the-blanks, vocabulary, idioms, and phrases. You should give 10 minutes and solve 10 to 12 questions on these topics with accuracy. Ensure to correctly solve the questions and not use the guesswork.
  • For the next 30 questions, you can solve the remaining questions such as grammar-based, Reading comprehension passages, Critical reasoning, Jumbled paragraphs, correction of errors, and other english vocabularybased questions. You can solve 12 to 15 questions in the remaining time of 30 minutes from this part maintaining the accuracy.

Quantitative Ability

The section is divided into two parts consisting of MCQ and short answer-based questions. Take 40 minutes to solve 30 MCQ questions and 40 minutes to solve 15 SA questions. You can follow the given strategies for the section.

  • Choose only those questions first that you can fully solve correctly.
  • Try to solve 25 to 30 questions with full accuracy in the section.
  • The benefit of the short answer(SA) questions is that there is no negative marking so attempt all of them. 

Now, when you have 30 minutes try to solve as many questions as possible in the next 10 minutes. Avoid the difficult questions and move to the next question to solve it. Don’t feel bad if you have solved a lesser amount of questions just focus on accuracy as it can qualify you for the personal interview round.
