Hello Priti,

We are so excited to have you on board in the Leverage community. It is great that you are clear about your higher education preferences early as it gives you a lot of time to prepare. Let’s evaluate your questions one by one to kickstart your journey.

First of all, education in Germany is mostly free or very cost-effective. But this also means that you need to have really competitive scores in your class 11th and 12th. Furthermore, you must at least score B2 grades to qualify to study in the country. Also, some German universities or courses are completely taught in the German language, so you can also learn the language beforehand to be prepared.

You might want to take a look at our blog: German Language Tests to Study in Germany

German universities require international students to complete 13 years of education in order to become eligible for pursuing a Bachelor’s degree. For that, you can pursue a professional course in the German language to compensate for the said requirement.

You can alternately choose foundation courses in Germany or in India. Completing the course in India might hamper your schooling grades and a course abroad may cost you a year or you will have to manage two courses at the same time. But it will be worth your while. So, you can go for whatever among these is feasible for you.

Another important thing to note is that your grades should be recognised by your university. For that, you will have to check the university requirements on its official website. Moreover, universities might also require you to write an entrance test called the TestAS. 150-195 marks in this test are considered good.

Documents required for your admission procedure are as follows,

  • A completely filled application form.
  • Certified copy of high school diploma.
  • German-recognized academic certificates.
  • Translated modules and grades.
  • Copy of passport and a passport photo.
  • Proof of language proficiency.
  • Entrance test scores.

As for the study visa, it is only applicable after you get an offer letter from a university. We suggest that you should research thoroughly to get acquainted with the admission process, its vocabulary and grading system.

Student accommodation in Germany can be availed based on your choice and budget. University accommodations are the best in budget options for students, however, you can choose to go for condos, PBSAs, apartments or homestays. Student dorms will cost you around €250 to €400 per month, €400 to €500 per month for shared apartments and around €900 per month for single apartments.

Here is a blog to give you better insights on expenditure: Cost of Living in Germany: A Guide.

If you need any assistance in the process, please feel free to contact our experts for advice. You can call 1800-572-000 for a free counselling session.
