I want to pursue in the field of astrophysics and am currently searching universities and colleges for Bsc. My aim is Tokyo university but I wanted to know whether it is a good college or not. I am open to more suggestions. Thanks. #astrophysics #highereducation #TokyoUniversity #studyabroad

Hello Devang,

Choosing the best university for you is a two-stage process, select the university considered best for a course and then include your own checklist to see if it suits you. Here is how you can do it. For the first stage, it is always best to get help from the official ranking systems in such cases. This helps as these rankings already consider many of the factors that you would use to analyse a university before targeting it for admission. If you go by the QS ranking system then here are the best universities and colleges for related subjects;

Now, including the University of Tokyo at the #10 position, here are 9 more universities that are considered good for any studies related to Physics and Astronomy. There are more universities in the QS list that you can look at.

Nevertheless, this does not imply that the university in the top position is an ideal choice for you, therefore we move to the next step. After looking at the rankings you can set your own parameters to decide what you want. This would include;

  • Area or country preference (if any)
  • Acceptance rate of the university
  • Course details, curriculum and specialisations offered
  • Faculty and student-to-faculty ratio
  • Course fees
  • Availability of scholarships and financing options
  • Cost of living near the university
  • Job prospects and global acceptance of the degree
  • Post-study work visa options and many more

To know more about these factors you can read our blog: How to Choose the Right College - Factors & Checklist.

Also, this blog might help you: Astrophysics Courses [Top Colleges, Jobs, & More]

Now that you have all the chequers in place, you can narrow down your list to 3-4 universities that you should target. Though you might be confident about getting an acceptance letter from a university, it is always safe to apply for safe choices as well. This will land you the best options to study Astrophysics at a university that is most suitable for you.

We hope this helps you. For detailed information, you can revert back to us or call our study abroad experts for a free counselling session. Call us at calling 1800-572-000 or dropping a mail at [email protected].
