History, Affiliations and Rankings

Whitireia Community College was established in 1986 in Porirua under the name Parumoana Community College. Whitireia Community Polytechnic was renamed Whitireia New Zealand in 1989, and Whitireia Community Polytechnic was renamed Whitireia New Zealand in 2010. It later formed a joint venture with Wellington Institute of Technology (WelTec), with the two organisations sharing a council. Whitireia was rescued by the government with a NZ$15 million subsidy in 2018 after running into financial difficulties. The united board was disbanded soon after, and a commissioner was appointed in its place. Academic ties with Tertiary Education Institutions (TEI) exist at the university. Whitireia's programmes are all government-accredited and recognised, and they provide students with a solid basis for a relevant job.

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

Whitireia has five campuses in Auckland , Petone , Porirua and wellington. Whitireia originated on the Porirua Campus, which continues to provide a variety of community-driven courses. The Porirua Campus is one of New Zealand's most attractive educational institutions, located just 20 minutes from Wellington City. The welcome area, Learning Commons, Carparks, and Cafés are all available on campus. Business, Creativity, Environment, Hair & Beauty, Health, and Information Technology are just some of the programmes available at the university.

In 2018, approximately 30,000 international students studied in New Zealand's institutions, which provide high-quality education while also being internationally diverse. The university's career services division works relentlessly to guarantee that every student is placed in a large corporation.
