Initially started as an evening college with three branches, it was granted “University” status in the late 1950’s with classes being arranged in the closed quarters of the rural academic set up of the university. With more than 22,000 students enrolled in various degree programs across many disciplines, it has become one of the most sought after universities. Currently, it has 12 departments and a research centre called Polo di Vicenza, which are being run by the best in class faculty members. Apart from this, it also has three schools- School of Medicine and Surgery, Economics and Management and Science and Technology. There are close to around 1500 staff members and it also has an excellent Administrative Department. The curriculum has been designed keeping in mind the industrial requirements. Offering 17 scholarships for non-EU students, Verona University has been awarded with many international as well as national recognitions. It houses many libraries which are located in Science and Technology, Law, Humanities and Economics campus. Declared a world heritage city by UNESCO, Verona has monuments and buildings whose roman architecture glorifies its historical past.
