The University of Udine is situated in the city of Udine, Italy. The university was founded in 1978 as a part of the Fruili reconstruction plan after the earthquake in 1976. The main motive of the university is to provide the Friulian community with an independent centre for advanced training in the field of cultural and scientific studies as well as to promote Friulian language. The university currently provides a vast range of degree programs in Agriculture, Economics, Engineering, Law, Modern Languages, Communication and Training, Humanities, Medicine and Surgery, Mathematics, Computer Science and Multimedia. Approximately 17,000 students are enrolled at the university in various courses. The university has its own sports centre, and organizes lots of activities, from fitness classes to basketball, volleyball, beach volleyball, table tennis, and football. The University of Udine is involved in exchanging projects with other universities within the EU and is now engaged in collaboration with several universities from non-EU countries. It also participates in many research projects at national and international level.
