Sixty years of High Tech Human Touch: The University of Twente, which was known as the Twente Technological University of Applied Sciences when it was founded in 1961, was able to set itself apart early on by combining technology and the social sciences. In addition, the 'third technical university of applied sciences' stood out for its campus landscape and educational style. Academic affiliations include 4TU, CESAER (Conference of European Schools for Advanced Engineering Education and Research), ECIU (European Consortium of Innovative Universities), and UEA (European University Association) (EUA). The University of Twente secured the ranking of #=189 in the QS World University Rankings. They are in bracket #301-500 in the Graduate Employability Ranking category. U.S. News and World Report ranked the University at #383 in Best Global Universities (tie), #162 in Best Global Universities in Europe (tie) and #12 in Best Global Universities in the Netherlands. 

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

The University of Twente is located between Hengelo and Enschede on the former country estate of Drienerlo. Woodland, meadows, and water make up the 140-hectare estate. State-of-the-art research and educational facilities are strewn over the site. The campus, on the other hand, is a place to live, play sports, and relax. The campus is a popular site for walking and various sorts of recreation throughout the summer. It includes student and staff housing, sports rooms and grounds, swimming pools, stores, meditation and prayer areas, medical care, pubs, restaurants, and even an open-air theatre. It provides comprehensive and up-to-date degree programmes. In fields ranging from public policy studies and applied physics to biomedical technologies, UT is highly regarded internationally.

Accomplishments and Alumni 

THE university is a pioneer in combining technology, science, and engineering with social sciences to impact the world around them. The University of Twente is a multicultural community of smart, ambitious people who provide the finest possible conditions for students, scientists, and educators from all over the world: an innovative and lively campus and a technical solution to societal problems. Its core technologies, which include nanotechnology and biomedical engineering, information technology, robotics, and geo-information science, are among the greatest in the world. More than 1000 researchers work on significant societal concerns in a variety of areas on a daily basis. It has a global alumni network of around 54.000 people. Some of the notable names are Diederik Jekel, Dutch author, Ank Bijleveld, Acting Mayor of Almere and Bas Lansdorp, CEO of Mars One.

The University of Twente educates nearly 12,000 students from all over the world, representing 85 different countries. The university has 7,114 undergraduates, 4,660 postgraduates, and 770 students enrolled in other programmes. It has a proven track record of creating value, launching and spinning off new firms (over 1,000 successful ventures to date), and defining new forms of social and industrial involvement. Among the top employers of university graduates are Thales, Philips, TNO, ING, and Deloitte.
