In the year 1889 on November 8, Montana was given a place in the Union. According to the act of Congress of February 18, in the year 1881, there were about 72 sections dedicated to the creation of a University in the Montana Territory. After Missoula won the legislative vote in February 1893 for the university, the Montana University finally opened in 1895. The first original campus of the university was designed by one of the 1st university’s professors, Frederich Scheuch and the first set of buildings in the university were set up in 1895. The campus is spread across a land area of 220 acres and is situated in an area bordered by Clark Fork River in the North and Mount Sentinel in the east. The University’s some of the most popular choices for Majors include Management, Business, Education, Natural Resources and conservation, Social Sciences, Psychology, marketing and related support. According to the US News adn World Report 2020, the student satisfaction rate, i.e. the retention rate is about 70%. The gender distribution of the undergraduate student stands at 45% of male students and 55% of female students.
