This public research institution was founded in 1856 by Charles Benedict Calvert and was previously known as Maryland Agriculture College and Maryland State College. According to the US News 2020 Edition, the University of Maryland-College Park is ranked 64th among National Universities, 37th among Best Colleges for Veterans, and 144th among Best Value Schools.
