Established in 1972, the University of Calabria is a non-profit state-run university with a rural setting in Rende, Italy. The university campus sprawls across its 200 hectare Arcavacata campus hosting a student population of more than 30,000 students and 800 academic staff from diverse nationalities. The University of Calabria offers 77 courses of study in undergraduate and postgraduate programs across 14 departments and 2 specialization schools organized into 6 faculties spanning disciplines of economics, engineering, literature and philosophy, political science, mathematics, physical and natural sciences, pharmacy, health sciences, nutrition and health. The university campus houses a botanical garden, a museum of paleontology along with an arts, music and entertainment center, a world-class library and sports center.
